About this site

Who publishes it, how it makes money, and why an agency in the ranking is the one writing it.

What this is

A ranking of twenty UK SEO agencies, scored against seven criteria, with the working published.

It exists because almost every other list of best SEO agencies is either an advert, a directory sorted by who paid, or an agency’s blog post listing nine competitors it does not consider threatening. None of those tell a buyer anything.

Who publishes it

Buried, an SEO and GEO agency. Buried appears in the ranking and is scored by the same protocol as the other nineteen, against bands written down before any agency was read.

That is a conflict of interest and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we can do is make it checkable: every score has its sources listed beside it, the bands were fixed before the reading started, and the commit history shows the order.

How it makes money

An agency can pay to be included in the study. That means we read it and score it against the same seven criteria as everyone else.

No agency can pay for a position, and none has. Where an agency lands is determined by its score. Paying gets you read. Where you then land is the evidence’s decision.

How it is kept up to date

The whole study moves as one job: the reading, the scores, then every page rebuilt from them.

We do not refresh one page at a time. Lists on separate schedules fall out of step, and the first time one is a month behind the others the pages start contradicting each other, which nobody notices until a reader adds the numbers up.

Corrections

If something here is wrong about your agency, tell us and we will check it and change it.

That includes the things we recorded as absent. Where we looked and found nothing, we have listed the searches we ran, so a wrong answer can be shown to be wrong rather than argued about.
