What the review data actually says

Every agency in the study, read from its own Google profile. Ratings cluster near five, so the rating is not the interesting number. The volume is.

Why Google and nothing else

Every agency here is read from its own Google Business Profile, and from no other platform.

An agency that gathers reviews on one platform and not another is telling you about its marketing rather than about its clients, and picking whichever platform flatters it is not a measurement. Google is the one profile almost every business has whether it works at it or not, which makes it the only place a fair comparison can be made.

A listed agency may submit a different profile through Get listed. None has, so all twenty here are on the same basis.

What the numbers mean

Ratings are useless on their own here. Almost every agency sits between 4.1 and 5.0, which tells you that unhappy clients rarely leave reviews for agencies. It does not tell you every agency is excellent.

Volume and recency do the work instead. An agency with a hundred reviews has asked a hundred clients and been willing to publish what came back. An agency with three has not, and that is worth knowing whichever way you read it.

0 of the twenty has no profile we could find at all. For a business selling search visibility that is an odd gap, and we have recorded the searches we ran so it can be corrected.

What reviews cannot tell you

Nothing about the work. A review measures how it felt to be a client, which matters and is not the same thing as whether the rankings moved.

That is why this criterion is worth fifteen per cent rather than fifty, and why proven outcomes is worth twice as much.
